Welcome to Far North Gastro

At Far North Gastro, our mission is simple: to deliver exceptional Gastroenterology, Endoscopy, and Colonoscopy services to the community of Cairns and its neighbouring areas. We take immense pride in providing high-quality care, coupled with a commitment to open communication, respect, and unwavering dedication to our patients' well-being.

Learn about our services

  • Our Gastroenterologists provide expert consultations to evaluate and manage a variety of gastrointestinal conditions, including Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Coeliac disease, Gastro-oesophageal reflux, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and Functional Gastrointestinal Disorder.

  • We perform upper gastrointestinal endoscopy procedures to evaluate and diagnose conditions affecting the oesophagus, stomach, and duodenum. Whether you're experiencing symptoms like heartburn, difficulty swallowing, or abdominal pain, our team is committed to delivering accurate diagnoses and personalized treatment plans.

  • Colonoscopy is a vital screening tool for the early detection and prevention of colorectal cancer and other gastrointestinal conditions. Our skilled gastroenterologists perform colonoscopies with precision and care, ensuring thorough examination. We also perform polypectomy during colonoscopy procedures, removing potentially precancerous polyps and reducing the future risk of colorectal cancer.

  • Living with inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis, requires comprehensive management and support. Our team is experienced in the diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of IBD, helping you achieve symptom relief and long-term disease control. We work closely with you to develop personalized treatment plans tailored to your unique needs and goals.

  • Liver disease and cirrhosis require specialized care and management to preserve liver function and overall health. Our gastroenterologists are skilled in the diagnosis and treatment of various liver conditions, including viral hepatitis, metabolic associated fatty liver disease and alcohol related disease. Whether you require monitoring, medication management, or lifestyle modifications, we are here to support you every step of the way.

  • Our gastroenterologists have significant clinical experience in managing patents with motility disorders (including oesophageal dysmotility and gastro-oesophageal reflux disease), as well as functional gut disorders. Dr Han performs high-resolution manometry and pH testing at the Cairns Base Hospital.
